Video 3/4: Understanding the Concern for our Health

One of the biggest concerns of our members, is what this issue with High Acres could mean for the health of their families.

While we know that the gas/rotten-egg smell coming from the landfill is hydrogen-sulfide (H2S), there's very little research on the health impact of low level H2S exposure over a long period of time.

Our community deserves to know if our health is at risk.

WHAT CAN YOU DO NOW?

PLEASE CONTACT NYSDEC, GOVERNOR CUOMO, YOUR SENATOR, YOUR ASSEMBLYMAN AND YOUR TOWN SUPERVISOR BY PHONE AND FOLLOW UP WITH AN EMAIL DETAILING YOUR CONVERSATION.

Let them know it’s not just a few neighbors who take issue with the events at High Acres.

Here are a few recommended talking points/questions:

  • NYC/Albany garbage is brought in via rail at a rate of 2k tons a DAY. Is your representative in favor of this?

  • Does your representative believe the trash trains and resulting volume of waste does, or does not, have a direct correlation to ongoing odors?

  • Why have odors continued and why are the number of complaints suddenly increasing?

  • Height approval in Macedon will be an eyesore. how can we address this?

  • How is town/NY addressing its trash problem for the future?

Video 2/4: Understanding the Community Impact

FAFE's main focus is to ensure people understand the issues at hand. Conflicting story-lines and unpredictable media coverage has made that a difficult task (to say the least). That's why, FAFE went straight to the source - impacted residents - to get their take on the problem.

Waste Management keeps telling us they're a good neighbor. However, residents of Perinton, Fairport, and Macedon all have a different story to share.

Which brings us back to same the nagging question - as we head towards spring, will the odors stop for good or are we facing irreparable damage to the community?

Video 1/4: Understanding the Issue

It's time for the real story to be told.

Under every logged odor pin is a family, a school, a business - who all have a story about how this gas smell is impacting them.

While this is happening, Waste Management continues to tell us they're a good neighbor. Judge their narrative for yourself as you listen to the impacted residents of Perinton, Macedon, Penfield Walworth, and Gananda,.

We are thrilled to see DEC take notice to our issue and make moves towards a resolution. However, FAFE, Inc. will not stop fighting until the odors have permanently dissipated. It's more important now than ever before to keep logging complaints ad voicing our concerns with our elected officials.
